Mr. Bryn began his career with the Morro Bay Police Department in the 1980s and served with the San Luis Obispo Police Department 1986–2005. He was the County Sheriff's Department public information officer and crime prevention specialist, a longtime active member of the Central Coast Navy League and a Life Member of the Tailhook Association. He was known fraternally for his reading and presentation of the “Bug Roach Prayer” at the annual reunion in Reno.
