This award is in memory of RADM James D. “Jig Dog” Ramage, who will long be remembered for his heroism while leading air strikes from USS Enterprise (CV-6) during World War II, and in later years his role in the development of modern battle group philosophy and Joint-service tactical doctrine. He was instrumental in framing the policies that guided the formation of the Tailhook Association and provided a large editorial influence responsible for the growth and success of The Hook magazine.
