Leonard Plog has taken his last cut.  He will be missed.

"As always this time of year, we are enjoying your Summer issue not only for the anticipated and welcome announcement of the scholarship winners for 2011 but also for the story about the Navy’s F4U Corsair versus the Russian A-20 Havoc (pp. 44-47).  Especially poignant in that article for those who knew him, was Len Plog’s victory over the Russian Yak.  That feat has been often remembered by those who served with him in VU-1 at Barber’s Point, HI many years ago.

I don’t know if you are aware that Leonard Plog left us on July 29; as so eloquently written in High Flight, he “reached out his hand and touched the face of God.”  A fitting tribute for a man who was, by all accounts, an excellent aviator, devoted family man, and all around fine human being.  As many have commented in the Guest Book entries, “he will be missed.”

I am attaching his obituary for your information and I sincerely hope Hook will remember him in a future issue."  The rest of the story
